OH, OH...........
It had to happen eventually - the breakdown that Bill couldn't fix. As he motored to the gas dock for a pumpout, he noticed that the oil pressure was way down, so into the pits he went. "There's gas in the oil," he said. To me that might have been "blah blah Ginger blah blah blah." After calling several marinas and boatyards from the air-conditioned ship's store, we found one with mechanics to work on the boat - we could stay for a dollar a foot a night! That was what we needed to hear, as we may be laid up for a week. So off to Edgewater, MD and the Liberty Marina we headed.
Beautiful and amazing boats....
St, Thomas Shoal marker; turn right and head upriver
Self-appointed South River greeting committee - an osprey suffering from empty nest syndrome!
When we finally arrived at the marina, we were treated very well and the dogs were an instant hit. We spent the bulk of the afternoon in the repair shop office enjoying the air conditioning. Randy and his wife, who own the shop, couldn't have been kinder - the dogs were invited into Randy's tile floored office to decompress.
The mechanics decided it was indeed the fuel pump and we felt better - fuel pumps are less expensive than carburators, the other possibility. Now, if only the engine didn't get fried on the trip to the fuel dock.......
Did I mention it is stinking hot! While Wisconsin drowns, Maryland broils! Here's to improved weather for us all!
